Many of us struggle with taking action towards our dreams and goals. This app combines planning, professional coaches, and accountability partners into one platform to ensure that users do take steps towards their goals. Users can match with people who have similar interests and keep each other on track.

"The distance between your dreams and reality is called action."
We all have goals and dreams we want to achieve, but it’s easy to get caught up thinking about everything you want to do...instead of actually doing it. Noticing this, Vigna and I wanted to find a solution that would motivate all of us to take action.
How can we increase productivity and motivate people to take that first step towards making their dreams a reality?
"I have tried a lot of planning apps but I usually never end up using them. It’s too much work to remember to constantly enter information into the app..."
It was quickly clear that I would need to talk to some potential users before Vigna and I got too excited about our plans and feature ideas for this app.
I interviewed several users to gain their perspectives and insights. During this time I learned:
Now that I was sure the initial problem statement was in fact something people struggled with, I used the data I collected from user research to dive deeper on what exactly I should be solving.
Next I plotted out the possible features onto a graph that would visually clarify what features we should prioritize in our MVP. This was also useful when considering future improvements and features.
I revisited the data I collected from the user interviews and worked through the main user flows that users were most interested in. I tried, whenever possible, to keep the flow simple and intuitive for new users. Because AlignAction is a startup, all users will be new users, and they need to understand how to navigate through the app easily. This stage was useful in helping me think through steps from the users’ perspective.
Having users test this app was crucial and helped us assess our potential success with the release of this app in the future. That's why I began user testing this app from the paper prototype stage up until the “final” mockups. I wanted to make sure users could clearly understand the function, organization, and features within the app.
After many rounds of iterations, I arrived at my final solution: an app that allows users to input goals and tasks, track their progress, and interact with coaches and accountability partners to take action on their goals. Feel free to take a look at the main flows in the videos below.

During user research I found that most people felt that goal and task managing was too cumbersome of a process and often felt like they needed to take time out of the day to go into their planning app and mark the tasks as complete.
A landing page that gives users a quick overview of their goals, progress, and tasks. Completing tasks and goals is a really quick and short process, requiring only 3 taps!
Sharing goals is usually not an option and/or is not very easy to do in most apps. Many users stated they were interested in sharing their planning-related materials with others.
All goals can be easily shared with a quick swipe across the goal. At the moment, sharing is only available to connections in-app.
User research helped me identify that people were interested in incorporating a human aspect into the planning process. This includes professional coaches or just a community feature to talk with others interested in achieving similar goals together.
A page dedicated to a planning community. Here users can browse through and connect with different individuals who they are interested in partnering up with to complete goals.
Take into account what business goals for the product are, and keep them in mind when designing. Test, test, test! Test as early as possible to maximize feedback and efficiency.
